The clouds washed over the sun, blocking out any light. Soon enough the sky began to cry and droplets showed down on top of the world. Droplets slide down the cover of my jacket and down my neck, a lone shudder running from the tip of my head all the way down to the tips of my feet. A feeling of capture crawled through my skin as I walked down the sidewalk. The sudden out burst of rain seemed to desire more than just sprinkle, for it began to downpour. My brown shoulder length hair soon become drenched in the downpour, quickly sticking to my face and neck, causing me to reach down and itch regularly now. My once clean and summer dry cloths were now drenched and every step seemed to feel like walking through barb wire.
Suddenly the large form of her high school came to view and a new surge of energy had awakened a sense in me. Galloping forward I quickly ran down the sidewalk, desperate to try and dry my cloths.
Rounding a close corner I ran side by side with the school fence and through the nearest opening to the school. Sprinting to the school my green backpack weighed me down dreadfully, yet I kept running at the sprinting rate. Only did I stop when I ran under a overhang at the front office. Panting from the run and cold weather. Pulling my hands back I gripped the strands of my hair and gripped as hard as I could, letting the sitting water drip out.
As I twirled around to go into the office the door open and me and a boy collided together.
"Ow!"
"What the hell?"
Gripping my hurt nose I closed my eyes and stepped backwards, slowly opening my eyes to see the last person I wanted it to be. My crush. Oh crap. A deep redness washed over my face and I turned my eyes from him. But I couldn't help but look up at him and look at his cute slight round face, freckles and a short black buzz cut. He was about 3 and a half inches taller than me and was very large and muscular for his age. "Oh my god, I-I am sorry, Matt! You ok?"
Instead of getting all angry and stuff he just smiled and spoke in a deep and yet in a way childish tone, "I'm just fine. Its ok, what about you, that was a hard hit.."
"haha... I'm fine, thanks for asking."
Rubbing my damp hair I looked into his brown eyes, feeling the urge to touch his cheek. Ignoring my urges I noticed he was looking at me funny. "Mind... if I ask what you are looking... at?" I was unable to stop from asking.
He blurted out laughing, his hand rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment, causing me to blush even further. "Well... your all damp, were you running all around in the rain or something?"
I frowned slightly, I loved the rain personally, but it did suck when it drenched you uncontrollably. "Well... ha, yeah, the rain. I decided, sadly, to walk too school today... stupid, huh?" Looking down at my pink heart Vans I stuffed my hands in my pockets, causing a flinch from the wetness. Matt looked thoughtful for a moment, but than shrugged it off and said, "Well, not really. I love the rain. But next time, I suggest a umbrella, Alexis." With those words he scooted around me and flashed a smile at me before running off to his next class.
Slapping the side of my head after he was out of sight, how could I be so dumb!? I should have said something smarter, your the top kid in very class, so why do I always clam up and get nervous around him?!
Sighing I reopened the door to the office and kept my gaze toward the ground, not daring to look up. Surprisingly I had made it to the front desk without running into anyone on the way. Placing my hands on the desk I glanced up at the lady with black curly hair typing rapidly on her computer. She stopped from her typing and looked up at me, a puzzled look expression on her face as she stared at me. Hauling my backpack on my right shoulder, I shifted it around until I unzipped it and fumbled inside until I felt a piece of paper. Carefully pulling it out I frowned sadly, it was all damp. Gently flicking it with the end of my finger I gave it to the puzzled lady, getting a frown from her. Without waiting for the lady to tell me to get another sheet or anything I trotted away and back out into the rain.
Standing underneath the hangover for a little bit I wondered when I will ever have the confident like others do. The only confident I ever have is when I play my favorite sport, soccer. I feel so alive and free when I play. Suddenly I stepped forward and sprinted as fast as I could to my locker. Today was going to be a long day, I could tell.
School, such a drag. Though I got top grades and was much smarter than a lot of kids, it felt so useless. But I did the homework and got good grades to get somewhere in life and to make my family happy. Yet when I think about it, it isn't so bad actually, you get to see your friends and just hang out sometimes.
The school bell rang, jolting me from my day dreaming and sending me upward. Gripping my binders I rushed to the door and again rushed through the rain and to my locker to go to the field. I always played soccer everyday, rain or not, ill or not. It was the end of the day and it was time to play. Pulling my PE bag out of my locker and the ball I rushed to the girls changing room. Taking my time with changing I put on black soccer shorts, a black tank top and a black shaggy jacket, most likely going to suck up most of the rain and yet somehow becoming all black. Putting on my soccer pads, socks and shoes last I sat on the bench in the room, pulling on the last of my shoe. When I was finished I got a hair band from my wrist and pulled my hair up in a pony tail. Holding my white soccer ball I put my old cloths back in my PE bag and stuffed it in one of the girl's lockers. Walking out into the field I punched the ball onto the field with my fist, feeling its pressure before kicking it with my foot further out. At once I began to become soaked. My ponytail slapped against the back of my neck, my shoes made a quiet sloshing noise and a cold chill ran through my body.
Kicking the ball around I made some fancy kicks and some rare and advanced ones I learned from my coach on my team. I noticed kids watched me as I kicked and played around with soccer ball, probably thinking I was crazy.
The soccer goal was out, guessing everyone was to lazy to take it back, but than again it was good for me, I could practice shooting. Yet when I closed in on the goal and was about to kick the ball the slick unstable mud underneath me broke and I slid backward, falling onto my back, I slid a big further before painfully banging my head against the ground.
Crying out loud in pain I rolled over in the mud and clutched the back of my neck. A searing pain rushed through my body, it made me whimper and just lay there. Damn it all. Mud caked my body and I was in major pain. My neck screamed in protest as I tried moving. Just giving up I laid there, eyes closed in pain. Suddenly I felt something or someone moving my shoulder, almost like someone was shaking me awake from a long sleepless night. Slowly rolling over I gulped, it was Matt...again. Why was he always there when either we were both hurt or one of us were hurt? He gripped me around the arm and gracefully pulled me into a sitting position, but when he did I yelped out loud and clutched even tighter around the back of my neck.
"I'm fine...."
"I can see that your not, Alexis. "
"Seriously... I am fine, Matt."
Blushing I felt like I just wanted to get up and walk away from him. Shrugging his helpful hand off I slowly stood, a even greater pain rushing through my body. I bit my lip, even though it was smeared with mud. I could feel some tears on the rim of my eye lids as I tried fighting back the pain. Almost limping over to my soccer ball I noticed it was further away than I had first expected, my foot must have caught it on the way down and kicked it further. Bending down I whimpered to myself in pain, hoping Matt hadn't heard.
Turning around with the ball tucked down my arm I walked back over to Matt, his face was expressionless. "Thanks... for helping me." I managed to smile a bit through the pain. "How about we will be even when you go to the office and let the nurse look at your neck. Something like that has happened to me before, and it wasn't pretty." He tried bitting back a smile but he broke under pressure.
Sighing sadly I watched as he held out his hand for a deal signer, how could I say no? Slowly shaking his hand I had forgotten that most of my body was covered in mud. Blushing as I noticed I had gotten mud all over his hand. He didn't seem to mind though. Seeing through the pain I took a glance at what he was wearing, soccer shorts like mine and a plain white t-shirt.
With Matt's help we managed to get to the office without me yelping out loud or getting so embarrassed that I had to slink away. Placing me in the care of the nurse I watched him as he talked to her and than looked at me as I sat myself on one of those bed/paper things from which the doctors observe you on. "Take care." He smiled and shrugged a bit, he had done his part for helping for today I guessed.
Still covered in mud and drinking of water the nurse had excused me with some medicine and told me not to rock around my neck that much, I had gotten savare whiplash from falling around my neck. Limping up the deck of my house I clutched the door nob and slowly opened the door. Praying my mother there I first kicked off my muddy shoes and galloped through the hallway and into the nearest bathroom. Locking the door I sighed gratefully, a hot, warm shower would be quite nice. Sheepishly taking off my cloths I put them in the dirty cloths hamper inside out so they wouldn't get the hamper to dirty. Than proceding to pull off my filthy socks and shin pads. Once I was all undress and ready for the shower I stepped in and turned it on as high as it could go. Washing all the fith off of me I stood there for a moment, letting the warm water ran all over my face.
It was annoying having to move around my neck, but it felt good to have some hot water on it. After the shower was over I wrapped a towl around myself and opened the door, looking both ways for anyone before running up stairs to my room.
Opening the door to my room, my room was just as I had left it.
